The tavern was pretty full that night when Amon gave his announcement.

"THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!" Someone shouted.

And then everything descended into chaos.

Shiyun was unusually calm, given her typical behaviour. As she continued to clean the glass in her hand with a washcloth, perhaps a bit too carefully as the glass had been long wiped clean, the corners of her mouth turned into a deep frown and stayed there. What did this mean? She had to be more careful than ever about her bending abilities, especially given the kind of neighborhood she lived in. Those folks loved a good mob. Yet the more she thought about Amon's announcement, the more outraged she became. Her grip on the glass tightened - this was Republic City, a place meant for all. Who was Amon to go against Avatar Aang's wishes?

And then suddenly there was a loud splash behind her and a series of indignant sputters. Surprised, Shiyun whipped around. The drink of the patron who was closest to her had shot straight out of his cup into his face.

"Oops," she muttered. So much for being careful with her bending abilities. Thankfully it had been one of the few regulars that really liked her and knew her little secret. Though initially confused and surprised, he waved it off as Shiyun began to apologize profusely under her breath and to wipe the table off, offering him another drink on the house to replace the one she had cost him.

"It's alright... My fault, my fault..." he said with a wistful smile, just loudly enough so those around them could hear to cover for her. "Lost control of my own hand there... just pour me another. What a declaration, though! Guess some changes are about to happen around here, eh?" A few of the other guests around them murmured in agreement, a worried look on their faces.

"Doubt it," Shiyun replied with a cheerful smile plastered on her face as she grabbed another bottle to pour him a drink, slamming the glass that she had been polishing just minutes ago in front of her old friend a little too energetically, betraying her own heightened emotions. "Avatar Korra's around. I'm sure she'll take care of this schmuck before no time. She's been kicking a lot of Equalist butt lately with Councilman Tarlock - watch me, Amon'll be locked up in no time!"

"Let's hope Korra can do something about this," he replied as he raised the class, a grimace on his face as he seriously considered the consequences of Amon's "bending-free" vision. "Or it may not bode well for people like us at all. Cheers!"
